Michael Vaughan demands England batsmen find form in final Ashes Test

England's batsman need to find form and score some heavy runs at The Oval this week, according to Michael Vaughan.

Former captain Michael Vaughan has called for England's batsmen to pile on the runs in the fifth Ashes Test against Australia this week.

The hosts have already regained The Ashes and head into the final Test of the series with the chance of securing a 4-1 win.

England's bowlers have grabbed the headlines so far this summer, and Vaughan hopes that the batters can heavily contribute in this game.

He wrote in The Telegraph: "The batting has been held together by one man, Joe Root, with the odd cameo or two from Moeen Ali at number eight. The rest have not been in great form.

"If this team is to be the team of an era it needs consistency with the bat and more contributions from different players rather than relying on one or two.

"I have been very impressed with the mix with the ball. Mark Wood, Steven Finn, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes have all made telling contributions at one point or another. But the batting unit has to offer more this week."

Root is the only England batsman to have scored a century in the series so far.
