Mitchell Starc warns England batsmen that Australian bowlers 'can get better'

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has warned England's batsmen to expect an even tougher time in the third Ashes Test in Perth.

England succumbed to a 120-run defeat in the second Test in Adelaide, leaving them trailing 2-0 in the series with three matches still left to play.

The visitors have struggled for batting form for most of the series, with no Englishman having made a century so far, and lost six wickets for just 64 runs as they collapsed from 169-4 to 233 all out in their final innings in Adelaide.

A win at Perth, where England have won only once and not since 1978, would see Australia regain The Ashes, and Starc believes that the Perth wicket - which is renowned as one of the world's quickest - could see the Australian bowling attack improve and cause more issues for the English batsmen.

"The exciting thing is our bowling group can still get better," the 27-year-old told the Daily Mail.

"We've obviously managed to take 40 wickets in the last couple of weeks and do some really good things, but I think there's still a lot of room for improvement.

"I hope we see a nice, fast, bouncy wicket - a WACA of old - and we can get stuck into their batters again."

The third Ashes Test in begins on Thursday, December 14, with England knowing that defeat would mean sliding to an unassailable 3-0 series deficit and see Australia regain The Ashes.
