Mark Wood: "You haven't seen best of me yet"

England seamer Mark Wood admits that he is "desperate" to prove his worth after taking just one wicket in Australia's storming 405-run victory at Lord's last week.

Mark Wood has insisted that his best form is yet to come as England prepare for the third Ashes Test against Australia.

The five-match series is currently locked at 1-1 after the tourists' 405-run victory at Lord's last week.

Wood took just one wicket in that crushing loss, but ahead of Wednesday's Edgbaston opener, the seamer has vowed to show exactly what he is capable of.

"You haven't seen the best of me yet. I'm confident I can perform at this level," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I want to turn in game-changing displays, match-winning performances.

"You're desperate to do well for everyone and an Ashes Test is the biggest game you can have as an England player."

Wood made his England debut earlier this summer in the drawn Test series against New Zealand.
