Joe Root, Stuart Broad climb ICC rankings

Joe Root and Stuart Broad have climbed into the top five in the ICC's batsman and bowler rankings respectively for the first time in their England careers.

The Yorkshire batsman, who scored 194 runs across two innings in England's 169-run win over Australia in the first Ashes Test, moves up to fourth from seventh.

Australia's Steve Smith, who had been ranked top heading into the Cardiff Test, slips to second, as South Africa's AB de Villiers jumps up to number one.

Broad moves up one spot in the bowler's rankings to a career-high fifth, three spots behind teammate James Anderson as Dale Steyn remains at the top.

Meanwhile, Moeen Ali makes his first appearance in the top 10 all-rounders list, climbing nine spots to ninth in the world.
