England selector Angus Fraser 'angered' by past criticisms

Angus Fraser has admitted that England's Ashes triumph has been marred slightly by the "anger" he felt when certain players and staff were heavily criticised.

The Three Lions regained the urn after taking an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.

It has not been all plain sailing for England in recent times, however, as Alastair Cook faced repeated calls to resign last summer, while some claimed that national selector James Whitaker should also have made way.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Fraser said: "What has been said or written about Cook, Strauss and Whitaker has been harsh and personal.

"There's a bit of anger. But there is also huge satisfaction. I'm delighted for Cook and [Andrew] Strauss, who took a lot of stick for the decisions he made."

England sealed their Ashes success with an innings victory at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
