England make steady progress at tea

England have ended on 211-4 at tea on day three of the third Ashes Test against Australia at Old Trafford.

The hosts are chasing a target of 328 runs to avoid the follow-on after Australia declared on 527-7.

England lost Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott during the morning session, but Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell have rallied at the crease to push their side on.

Pietersen, who swiftly moved past his half-century, survived a contentious lbw decision on 62 before adding another 16 runs to his score at the break.

Meanwhile, Bell also bagged himself a half-century and will start on 51 not out when play resumes.
