England captain Alastair Cook backs teammate Adam Lyth to make an impact with the bat before the end of the Ashes series.

England captain Alastair Cook has backed opening partner Adam Lyth to find form soon.

Lyth has struggled with the bat during the current Ashes series, averaging just 12 runs so far.

The 27-year-old's place in the team has come under question, but Cook is confident that his teammate will get back among the runs in the near future.

Lyth has an overall average of 22.20 for England after a total of five Tests.
