Bresnan: 'Lower order will help England'

Tim Bresnan has insisted that England's lower order could be important during the forthcoming Ashes series.

Alastair Cook's side are taking part in a warm-up game against Essex this week, with Bresnan and fellow tail-end batsman Graeme Swann putting on a partnership of 150 on day two.

"Part of a successful team is that everyone's capable with the bat and if needs be they can get you out of trouble if you're in a bit," Bresnan told Sky Sports News.

"I don't see it as a bad thing that the lads down the order are getting a bit of a hit."

The first Ashes Test begins at Trent Bridge on July 11.
