Steve Smith: Australia players "shaken up" by Eoin Morgan blow

Australia's Steve Smith offers his well wishes to Eoin Morgan after seeing the England skipper struck on the head by a bouncer during Sunday's fifth ODI.

Australia skipper Steve Smith has admitted that some of his teammates were left "shaken up" by Eoin Morgan's injury scare.

The England captain was struck on the head by a bouncer in the sixth over of Sunday's fifth one-day international clash.

Morgan left the field after receiving some treatment and played no further part, with the incident coming just nine months after Australia batsman Phillip Hughes was himself hit in the head before tragically passing away.

"There were a couple of guys who were a bit shaken up, [Mitchell] Starc in particular," Smith told Sky Sports News. "Obviously it was a tough summer for us back home, losing a close mate, and it's always nasty when you get a glance like that.

"There were a few guys shaken up and hopefully Eoin is okay. I don't think anyone ever means to do anything like that, it's part of the game bowling bouncers, so you have to get back on the ship as quickly as possible.

"You still have a job to do out in the middle and you have to take it out of your mind as quickly as possible but you never like seeing anyone get hit like that for sure."

Australia won the match by eight wickets to clinch the ODI series.
