Former England captain Michael Vaughan describes David Warner's attack on Joe Root as "irresponsible".

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has said that Australia batsman David Warner has tarnished the reputation of his entire team following his attack on Joe Root.

The ECB have said that Warner was involved in a "physical altercation" with 22-year-old Root in the early hours of Sunday morning, and Vaughan believes that the incident will put the spotlight on the entire Australian team in the coming weeks.

"Unfortunately David Warner has tarnished the whole Australia cricket team," Vaughan told BBC Sport.

"People are talking about him but the whole network, structure, captain, management, supporters, are all tarred with the same brush because of what that one individual has done to the team.

"It's nothing that a coach or a captain can stop, it's down to that one individual acting in an irresponsible manner."

Warner was banned for Australia's abandoned match against New Zealand and his participation in the side's remaining ICC Champions Trophy matches is in doubt.
