Australia rest Mitchell Johnson for South Africa Twenty20s

Aussies rest Johnson for Proteas T20s

Australia coach Darren Lehmann has confirmed that fast bowler Mitchell Johnson will be rested for the upcoming Twenty20 international series against South Africa.

The Australian player of the year for 2013 will be back in the squad for the World T20 in Bangladesh later in the year having had time to recuperate over the three-match Proteas series.

"Mitch has had a very long summer and we think he will benefit from returning home for a few days of rest with his family where he can freshen up," BBC Sport quotes Lehmann as saying. "He will link back up with the squad in Bangladesh ahead the World Twenty20."

Johnson took 63 wickets in Australia's series over the winter against both England and South Africa.
