Sean Abbott took a career-best 6-14 in his first match since his bouncer resulted in the death of Australia batsman Phil Hughes.

The 22-year-old's short-pitched delivery struck the neck of Hughes during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground last month and two days later, the 25-year-old passed away from serious head injuries.

Yesterday, Abbott took his best figures for New South Wales as they went on to dismiss Queensland for 99 to win by an innings and 78 runs at the same ground where Hughes was hit.

Abbott, who received a standing ovation when he left the pitch, has represented Australia in three one-day internationals and one Twenty20 match.
