Michael Clarke: 'We showed our hunger'

Australia skipper Michael Clarke has insisted that his side gave a truer reflection of themselves at Lord's following last week's disappointing showing in Cardiff.

The Baggy Greens bounced back from their opening defeat by recording an emphatic 405-run victory in the second Test to level the series up at 1-1.

Right from the first ball in Thursday's opening session Australia have remained firmly in control, and they managed to get the job done with a day to spare to inflict a fourth heaviest Test defeat ever on their opponents.

"The way we turned our performance around for Cardiff shows the talent and the hunger of this team," Clarke told BBC Sport.

"I don't think the toss played too much of a part, but we started the game really well. We're 1-1 in a five-match series, so we're going to have to keep playing our best. The boys executed really well with both bat and ball."

The third Test gets underway at Edgbaston on July 29.
