Australia's Mitchell Johnson blasts England "tactics"

Australia bowler Mitchell Johnson accuses England batsmen of trying to unsettle him using questionable tactics.

Australia bowler Mitchell Johnson believes that England batsmen intentionally back away before the ball is delivered to unsettle him.

The 32-year-old was involved in an exchange of words with Kevin Pietersen during the fourth Ashes Test when the England batsman stepped away during his run-up.

"That's how they play the game and have always played the game," BBC Sport quotes the paceman as saying.

"I don't think they'll change. It is frustrating when it happens all the time, but it's part of their tactics."

Johnson also gave his take on the incident between him and Pietersen.

"The only thing I regret is throwing the ball," he said. "That was probably a little bit inappropriate but the rest of it was fine.

"It hasn't really bothered us throughout the whole series, but I just thought it was time to let him know that it was inappropriate and he needed to stop doing it.

"The sight screens are big enough, he should be watching the game. I won't back down if it happens again."

The fifth and final Test of the Ashes series gets underway in Sydney on Thursday.
