Michael Clarke remains positive over Mitchell Starc fitness

Australia captain Michael Clarke hopes that Mitchell Starc can play in the second Test after an ankle scare.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has said that Mitchell Starc has a good chance of playing in the second Test of The Ashes against England.

The left-arm bowler struggled in England's second innings with an ankle injury, but Clarke is hopeful that he will be selected at Lord's on Thursday.

He told Sky Sports News: "He walked out and batted, which is a positive. He was still able to bowl and took a couple of wickets in the second innings. Hopefully, he will be fit and available for selection for the second Test.

"I think the real positive for us is that he was able to bowl and get through it."

England won the first Test by 169 runs.
