Team GB endure mixed fortunes on Thursday

Great Britain's Joshua Buatsi has progressed through to the quarter-finals in the light-heavyweight division after stopping Elshod Rasulov.

Buatsi was the underdog to come through his last-16 clash but, as he did in his first contest, he managed to stop his opponent.

Rasulov had been tipped to win a medal but in the final round, he twice hit the canvas before being floored for a third time to leave the referee with little option but to call the bout off.

In the light-welterweight division, Pat McCormack recorded a convincing win over Ablaikhan Zhussupov, despite only winning by split-decision.

Despite one judge ruling the fight a 29-28 victory for the Kazakh, the other two officials ruled in favour of McCormack by a 30-27 scoreline.

However, there was disappointment for welterweight Josh Kelly after he lost by unanimous decision to Daniyar Yeleussinov.
