Pat McCormack suffers last-16 defeat at Olympic Games

McCormack suffers last-16 defeat in Rio

Great Britain's Pat McCormack has been eliminated at the last-16 stage of the light-welterweight tournament.

McCormack was considered to have a chance of gaining a medal in Rio de Janeiro but he had been given a tough draw against Cuban Yasnier Toledo and it showed during a competitive contest.

After two rounds, McCormack was ahead 20-18 on one scorecard and down by the same scoreline on the other two, and it left him with it all to do in the final session.

McCormack continued to compete well with a tricky opponent but as he ploughed forward, he left too many opportunities for Toledo and the Cuban was awarded the final round by all three officials.
