Team GB's Nicola Adams has made history by becoming the first-ever women's Olympic boxing champion with a dominating nine-point triumph over China's Ren Cancan.

Adams made a fantastic start and found the target with a few decent right hands. She was beating Ren to the punch and established a 4-2 lead after the first round.

The Brit continued her assault in the second and Ren was struggling to cope with her intensity. Adams was landing at will with her right and sent Ren down, forcing a count.

The action settled a bit in the third and fourth rounds, as Adams took more of a back seat. She was picking her shots nicely now and was content to see out victory.

Ren could not get near the Leeds fighter, who went on to clinch gold.
