British boxer Josh Kelly: "I gave it my all"

Josh Kelly vows to take his Baku 2015 semi-final defeat to Parviz Baghirov "on the chin" in order to bounce back in upcoming events.

Great Britain's Josh Kelly has admitted that he can have no complaints about missing out on gold at the European Games, having thrown everything he had at Parviz Baghirov.

The 21-year-old beat Ireland's Adam Nolan earlier this week to make certain of bronze, but he was unable to overcome Baghirov for a place in the men's welterweight gold-medal final.

Kelly was disappointed to fall short in Baku, but he insists that there is still plenty to be positive about when looking ahead to the future.

"I gave it my all in there," he told reporters. "I wanted that gold, but I'm on the podium now so I've got to take it on the chin and move on.

"It was more of a technical fight in there. I'm more of a technical boxer and he's one as well but what can you do? I put the pressure on in the third round but that's what you get in boxing."

Baghirov will face Russian Federation's Alexander Besputin in Saturday's final at Crystal Hall.
