Reece McFadden: 'I am more focused'

Scotland boxer Reece McFadden insists that he is now in a position to keep his emotions in check.

Scotland boxer Reece McFadden has claimed that he is now more focused than in the early stages of his amateur career.

McFadden has burst onto the scene at the Commonwealth Games this summer, beating the favourite Andrew Selby and Team England's Charlie Edwards to advance into in the quarter-final stage of the Flyweight category.

The youngster admitted that he struggled to control his emotions in his early career, but is now confident of keeping his feelings in check.

"I have done it plenty of times. I have got too up for the fight before and got disqualified. Sometimes the crowd is too much for me," McFadden admitted after the fight.

The Scot also praised Selby and Edwards when asked about the pair.

"It was exactly the same. I would say that Charlie is maybe a bit stronger than Selby, but the two of them have quite similar styles. They are both top, top lads," added Edwards.

McFadden will fight Oteng Oteng in the next round on Tuesday.
