Stephen Smith struggles past Pedro Navarrete

British super-featherweight Stephen Smith has recorded a points victory over Pedro Navarrete.

The Liverpudlian, who currently possesses the WBC silver belt, struggled during the opening half of his eight-round contest against the Mexican.

However, he upped his workrate in the latter stages to run out the victor by a 78-75 margin.

Smith could now face WBC champion Takashi Miura in Japan at the end of the year.
