Callum Smith extends unbeaten run with Nikola Sjekloca points victory

Super-middleweight Callum Smith has edged closer towards a world title bout after extending his unbeaten streak with victory over Nikola Sjekloca in Liverpool.

The 24-year-old, who came into tonight's contest without defeat in his previous 14 fights, came out on top with a comfortable points victory over his Montenegrin opponent.

Sjekloca had himself lost just two of his previous 29 bouts, both coming in world title fights, but he came unstuck against local favourite Smith.

Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew meet in their much-anticipated rematch later this evening.
