Kevin Mitchell outclasses Karim El Ouazghari at ExCel Arena

British lightweight Kevin Mitchell remains on course for a world title opportunity in 2014 after stopping Karim El Ouazghari in the ninth round of their bout at the ExCel Arena in London.

British lightweight Kevin Mitchell has defeated Karim El Ouazghari inside nine rounds to move a step closer to a world title bout in 2014.

Mitchell, who was defending his IBF intercontinental strap, always looked comfortable against the Spaniard, who was a late replacement for Brunet Zamora.

El Ouazghari provided a durable test for the 29-year-old, but the end came when Mitchell landed three shots that hurt his opponent, who also appeared to suffer an arm injury in the process.

Mitchell now moves to 36 wins in 38 encounters, and he will be eager to push towards a clash with IBF titlist Miguel Vasquez next year.
