Kevin Mitchell eases past Mikheil Avakyan

British lightweight Kevin Mitchell has eased past Mikheil Avakyan at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

The 29-year-old started the contest at a rapid pace against the Georgian, and he had his opponent on the floor twice in the opening round.

Mitchell continued his dominance in the next round, and a third knockdown was enough for the referee to call off the contest.

The Londoner could now challenge IBF titlist Miguel Vasquez at Wembley on May 31.
