Frank Warren admits he is "not a fan" of female boxing

Frank Warren says that he is "not a fan" of female boxing.

Boxing promoter Frank Warren has admitted that he does not like female boxing in either a professional or amateur capacity.

The 2012 Olympics is the first time women's boxing has been part of the Olympic Games and Warren has stated his reluctance to promote it.

"This is the first time women's boxing has featured as a medal event at the summer Olympics and If I'm honest, I'm not a fan," said Warren on his Boxing Scene blog.

"Though professional shows featuring girls have been big attractions in Germany and the US, I've yet to promote a women's bout.

"Last year there were reports of a woman fighting in the US when she was several months pregnant. Some might spout that it's a women's choice but I doubt it's the choice of an unborn child.

"Maybe women's boxing will take on with the younger generation. I certainly wish our Brit girls well in their quest for medals."

The women's finals will take place on Thursday, August 9.
