Stephen Smith to challenge world champion Jose Pedraza in New York

British super-featherweight Stephen Smith will travel to New York to challenge IBF champion Jose Pedraza in the spring.

In September, Smith ended a frustrating period of his career by stopping Devis Boschiero inside six rounds in Liverpool to set up a showdown with Pedraza.

Purse bids had been scheduled to take place to decide the venue of the fight, but on Tuesday, a deal was agreed between both parties for the bout to be staged in the United States on March 26.

The 30-year-old, who is a former British and Commonwealth champion, has won 23 of his 24 outings as a professional, while opponent Pedraza is unbeaten in 21 matches.
