Selby to fight McConnell in Blackpool

Commonwealth featherweight champion Lee Selby will defend his title against highly-rated Australian Corey McConnell on April 20 at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

McConnell, who is the current Australian champion, will be Selby's first opponent under the leadership of Eddie Hearn, who has become the Welshman's new promoter.

"I can't wait to watch Lee in action and he will have his work cut out against a motivated McConnell," Hearn told Eurosport.

"McConnell has an exciting style and will come to fight but in my opinion Selby is the new star of British boxing and I'm looking for him to make a major statement in Blackpool."

Selby has won 13 of his 19 fights.
