Brian Rose: 'I deserve world title shot'

British light-middleweight Brian Rose believes that he has earned his opportunity to fight for the world title against unbeaten American Demetrius Andrade.

British light-middleweight Brian Rose has insisted that he hasn't travelled to New York to make up the numbers ahead of his WBO title clash with Demetrius Andrade.

Rose goes into the fight as the heavy underdog against the unbeaten American, but the Blackpool-based boxer, who earned his chance by beating Javier Maciel in October, has revealed that he intends to cause a huge shock at the Barclays Center on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I feel blessed to be here, but at the same time, I deserve to be here and I deserve all of the coverage that I get.

"I've worked hard throughout my career to get to this stage. I'm going to enjoy every moment, but I realise that I have a job to do come Saturday night.

"All the pressure is on his shoulders. I'm coming over here and everyone is expecting me to get beat, but I know otherwise."

Rose enters the bout having won 25 of his 27 professional encounters, while Andrade, who is a former world amateur champion, has recorded 13 stoppages in his first 20 matches in the paid ranks.
