David Price: Tony Thompson defeats are "ancient history"

David Price insists that his two defeats to Tony Thompson are "ancient history" as he prepares to make his first appearance in Liverpool in nearly two years.

British heavyweight David Price believes that his home supporters will see a "much-improved" fighter when he makes his return to Liverpool next month.

After suffering back-to-back defeats to Tony Thompson in 2013, Price has rebuilt his career in Europe, and ahead of his appearance at the Echo Arena on June 26, the Merseyside puncher has insisted that his previous setbacks are "ancient history".

The 31-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "My last fight in Liverpool didn't go as planned but that's ancient history now.

"It's behind me and I've moved on. I'm in a better place now than I was two years ago, and on June 26, people will see a much-improved fighter.

"The one-punch knockout artist is still there but now I'm a more polished boxer."

Price will face unbeaten German Erkan Teper for the European title if his team, Sauerland Promotions, are successful in next week's purse bids.
