Manny Pacquiao undergoes successful surgery on shoulder

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao undergoes successful surgery on his shoulder.

Manny Pacquiao has undergone successful surgery on a torn rotator cuff and is expected to be out for between nine and 12 months.

The Filipino boxer was suffering with the shoulder injury during his unanimous points defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas last Saturday.

After allegedly failing to disclose the injury to the Nevada Athletics Commission, the eight division-rated fighter could be fined or banned as punishment.

With regards to the surgery, Dr Neal ElAttrache, who performed the operation, has told reporters that he is "more than pleased with the results".

Pacquiao is also facing a million-dollar lawsuit from two Nevada men, who have accused the sportsman of defrauding ticket buyers, television viewers and gamblers.
