Middleweight boxer Anthony Ogogo calms concerns over injury layoff

British boxer Anthony Ogogo plays down reports that he will be out injured for a year after undergoing a second Achilles operation.

British middleweight boxer Anthony Ogogo has played down reports that he will be out injured for another year after undergoing a second operation on his Achilles.

The 26-year-old has featured in just seven fights over almost two years, but is confident that he will be on top form when he recovers.

"I just wanted to clear up a few things," worldboxingnews.net quotes Ogogo as saying. "I've had to go under the knife again to cure this blasted achilles injury that I've been hampered with for so long.

"The experts believe that this will finally clear the solution up and I'll finally be able to launch my quest on middleweight supremacy. I am 100% sure I'll be back before the reported time stated by the media. I'm aiming for a late spring-summer return. I will shake up the middleweight division."

Ogogo went pro with Golden Boy Promotions after earning an Olympic medal at London 2012.
