Barry McGuigan tips David Price for world title

British boxing legend Barry McGuigan labels David Price "a 21st Century heavyweight" and believes that he is the best young heavyweight in Britain.

British boxing legend Barry McGuigan believes that David Price could be fighting for a world title in less than two years.

Price takes on Sam Sexton in Liverpool tonight for the vacant British heavyweight title and McGuigan fully expects the undefeated 28-year-old to win.

"David Price will be ready to challenge for a world title within 18 months," McGuigan wrote in The Mirror. "I believe he is our best young heavyweight and will prove it by lifting the British title tonight.

"It is always special to watch an Olympian develop and grow as a professional. But that bronze at Beijing came with a warning as well as honour.

"He can box, has a ram-rod jab and at 6ft 8ins he is a 21st Century heavyweight, with the skill to go with it."

Price has won all 12 of his professional fights to date, 10 by knock-out.
