Marcos Maidana: 'It is time for Floyd Mayweather to lose'

Marcos Maidana is confident he can cause an upset when he faces the number one ranked boxer in the world, Floyd Mayweather, in May.

Argentine welterweight Marcos Maidana has claimed that it is time for Floyd Mayweather to lose.

Maidana takes on the unbeaten pound-for-pound king in May, earning his shot after an impressive win over Adrien Broner.

While Maidana knows that this will be a much tougher test, he is confident of his chances.

"I know I can't count on my chances of another Broner fight," Maidana told ESPN. "Mayweather is much better than that.

"Everyone at some point has to lose in life, and it's time for [Mayweather] to lose.

"This is a fight that can change my career, but mostly my life."

Maidana faces Mayweather in Las Vegas on May 3.
