Alex Leapai: 'I can make history against Wladimir Klitschko'

Australian heavyweight Alex Leapai believes that he can "make history" when he faces unified world champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday evening.

Australian heavyweight Alex Leapai has revealed that he is determined to cause a surprise against unified world champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night.

Klitschko hasn't suffered defeat since losing to Lamon Brewster in 2004, but after he earned his opportunity with a points win over Denis Boytsov, Leapai is eager to make sure that his journey to fight for a world belt isn't a wasted one.

The 34-year-old told reporters: "I'm here to make history. I want people in 100 years to remember that a Samoan-born Aussie came out of nowhere to beat one of the best heavyweights of all time.

"It's been a long road to get to this stage but I will make sure that the long ride has been worth it."

Leapai has won 30 of 37 professional encounters, while Klitschko has 61 wins from 64 matches.
