Mikkel Kessler keen on third Carl Froch fight

Kessler keen on third Froch fight

Mikkel Kessler is hopeful that IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion Carl Froch decides to face him for a third time next year.

The two fighters are currently locked at one win apiece, with Kessler beating Froch on points in Denmark in 2010 before Froch gained his revenge three years later with a comfortable triumph at London's O2 Arena.

Kessler hasn't fought since that night in May 2013, but after recently announcing his intentions to return to the ring, the Dane has admitted that he wants to complete the trilogy against the Nottingham fighter.

The 35-year-old told Ringside: "I am sitting by the phone, hoping something is going to happen soon and I want a big fight - a decider with Carl.

"I don't know whether he wants to fight me, but who is he going to fight? Of course, Andre Ward is a big one as well.

"I know that I lost that last one, so of course I am telling everybody I want this guy. Of course I would like to fight Carl, that's my biggest wish."

Kessler has ruled out facing European champion George Groves, despite the two being represented by the same promoter.
