Anthony Joshua: 'I considered Dillian Whyte rematch for December'

Anthony Joshua says that he considered handing a rematch to Dillian Whyte on December 10 before the decision was made to fight Eric Molina.

Anthony Joshua has said that a rematch with Dillian Whyte will definitely happen at some point in the future.

Last December, Joshua recorded a seventh-round stoppage win over his long-time rival but with Whyte recovering from the defeat to claim the British title, Joshua has claimed that he considered handing Whyte another opportunity next month before deciding to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Eric Molina.

The 27-year-old told Sky Sports News: "The fact I managed to knock him out doesn't make him a bad fighter and doesn't mean he can't take a punch. It means I turned out to be the better fighter on the night.

"He's gone on, rebuilt himself and is gaining valuable experience against the likes of Ian Lewison, David Allen and Dereck Chisora.

"As long as he stays on course and I stay on course I'm sure this fight will happen. I even mentioned about fighting him on December 10 but he was scheduled in to fight Chisora. But no problem, we'll get it on again."

Joshua will face Wladimir Klitschko in April should he overcome the challenge of Molina at the Manchester Arena.
