Eddie Hearn: 'Kell Brook will defend IBF welterweight title in December'

Hearn: 'Brook will return in December'

Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he is considering a number of opponents for Kell Brook's first defence of his IBF welterweight title.

Brook upset the odds to beat Shawn Porter by majority decision in California on Saturday evening, but just days after his triumph, Hearn has already outlined plans for the 28-year-old's return to the ring.

In an interview with IFL.TV, Hearn announced that the Sheffield fighter would compete in front of his home crowd on December 6, but his opponent would not be long-term rival Amir Khan.

Former world champions Brandon Rios and Andre Berto have been suggested as possible opponents, while Josesito Lopez, who has been linked with a showdown with Khan, is another name that could be approached regarding a match at the end of the year.
