Eddie Hearn: 'Kell Brook is eager to fight Keith Thurman'

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is keen to meet WBA titleholder Keith Thurman, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has claimed that Kell Brook is keen to set up a unification bout against WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman.

Recent reports had suggested that Brandon Rios was being lined up as Brook's next opponent before talks broke down with the American.

The IBF titleholder has previously been linked with fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr and Amir Khan, but Hearn believes that the unbeaten Brit is likely to meet Thurman, who defended his own title by stopping Luis Collazo in the seventh round at the weekend.

"Kell Brook is up for fighting anyway, whether it's Mayweather, Thurman or Khan - it doesn't really matter," Hearn told Sky Sports News.

"We were looking at getting Kell out on September 12 but it's likely now that it will be the end of October back in Sheffield.

"He believes he can beat everyone in the division. He has respect for Thurman and they've complimented each other in every interview but it's a fight that's inevitable down the road."

Brook stopped Frankie Gavin in the sixth round when he defended his title for the second time back in May.
