Speculation gathers pace that Ricky Hatton is preparing to come out of his self-imposed boxing retirement.

Ricky Hatton is reportedly close to confirming his return to the boxing ring.

The Stockport-born boxer announced his retirement from the sport in July 2011 following his second-round defeat to Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

At the time, Hatton vowed to never box again and instead turned his attention to promoting fights.

However, he has now returned to training, with speculation claiming that he has shed 34lbs in recent months.

It is believed that the 33-year-old will announce plans for a two-fight comeback, one of which will be against Paul Malignaggi in November of this year.
