George Groves wants Carl Froch rematch

George Groves says that if Carl Froch "is a man", then he should be willing to participate in a rematch.

George Groves has urged Carl Froch to participate in a rematch.

Froch controversially stopped Groves in the ninth round of their Manchester fight on November 23 and retained the WBA and IBF belts.

"My thoughts haven't changed," Groves told the Swindon Advertiser. "I should be world champion right now. I've had those two belts taken away from me unjustly. We're in the process of sorting that [a rematch with Froch] out, so to speak.

"My ideal plan would be to get a rematch. I've made that very clear. If Carl Froch is a man, then I'm sure he'll step up and give me the rematch. It's the biggest fight out there for him.

"Commercially, financially he is nowhere near going to touch those aspects of his boxing life unless he fights me in a rematch. It could end up being one of the biggest British fights of all time. Why would you not want to be part of that and be part of history? I'm going for that, if not we'll figure out another route."

At the time referee Howard Foster stopped the fight, Groves was ahead on all three scorecards but had landed heavily on the ropes.
