Carl Frampton: 'I want to impress against Chris Avalos'

IBF super-bantamweight champion Carl Frampton admits that he is keen to impress against Chris Avalos when they face each other in Belfast on Saturday night.

IBF super-bantamweight champion Carl Frampton has predicted that he will stop challenger Chris Avalos in their showdown in Belfast on Saturday night.

Frampton is making the first defence of the world title that he won against Kiko Martinez in September, and the Northern Irishman has revealed that he wants to deliver an "explosive" performance in front of his home supporters.

The 28-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I want to keep on winning and look explosive in every single contest. He's cocky but I'll knock that out of him.

"I don't know if Avalos is any better than Martinez but I'll go in there expecting a tough fight. Kiko is a very good fighter and I dealt with him quite easily and Avalos is a good fighter as well.

"It'll be an exciting fight while it lasts but I'm the biggest punching super-bantamweight in the world so it's not rocket science what's going to happen."

If Frampton can beat Avalos, he is likely to target a British clash with WBA title holder Scott Quigg in the summer.
