Andre Dirrell: 'I will avoid complacency against James DeGale'

American super-middleweight Andre Dirrell insists that he won't get complacent when he faces James DeGale for the IBF title in Boston on Saturday night.

American super-middleweight Andre Dirrell has insisted that there is no danger of him underestimating James DeGale in their clash for the IBF title.

Both Dirrell and DeGale are looking to become world champion for the first time, and the Michigan fighter says that relishes the opportunity to compete against the 2008 Olympic gold medallist.

The 31-year-old told the Boston Herald: "I'm not going to take it for granted. I'm glad to be getting in there with somebody who believes he can win. I want someone who will test me like I'll test them.

"That's a real championship fight. Everything I went through was a blessing. Every downfall was a blessing. I been waiting on this moment."

Dirrell has won 24 of his 25 matches in the professional ranks, while DeGale has only suffered defeat to George Groves in his 21-fight career.
