DeGale defeats Demers in two rounds

James DeGale believes that he will be super-middleweight world champion by the end of 2013 after stopping Sebastien Demers inside two rounds in Canada.

DeGale was making his North American debut and he had too much speed and power for his opponent, who was floored by an uppercut.

The 27-year-old told WealthTV: "I wasn't messing around. I got in there and he felt too slow and I could see the shots coming so I opened up on him

"The finishing shot was a nice uppercut. We've been working on the inside and I'm learning in the gym every day.

"Give me a couple more fights to keep the momentum going and I'm willing to fight anyone. I will be a world champion by the end of this year."

The victory was DeGale's 15th in 16 professional bouts.
