James DeGale backs Callum Smith to beat Rocky Fielding

James DeGale has predicted that Callum Smith will emerge victorious from his British super-middleweight title clash against Rocky Fielding.

The two Merseyside fighters meet at the Echo Arena on Saturday night, and DeGale, the current IBF title holder, expects Smith to build on his most recent victory against Christopher Rebrasse.

During an appearance on Soccer AM, the 29-year-old said: "It should be a real good fight. I'm a Smith man, he is very talented and in his last couple of fights, he has looked very, very good.

"I'm going for Smith, but this is boxing and anything can happen. Fielding is a good fighter, but I am going for Smith."

DeGale is scheduled to defend his world title against Lucien Bute on November 28.
