Browne dismisses suggestions he could face Haye

Lucas Browne has dismissed David Haye's suggestions that they could clash for the WBA Regular heavyweight title as "speculation".

Haye has said that he is keen to secure a showdown with the Australian, who beat Ruslan Chagaev earlier this month to claim a version of the world title.

However, Browne, who is mandated to face Fres Oquendo in his next bout, has insisted that no discussions are taking place.

The 36-year-old told World Boxing News: "All I can say is that David Haye, along with Shannon Briggs and Sol Haumono closer to home, are wanting a shot at my new title.

"Things like this are bound to happen following my win over Ruslan Chagaev and I'm sure it happens to fellow-champions Charles Martin and Deontay Wilder. It is what it is but there is nothing in it but speculation."

Browne's comments suggest that Haye will need to continue his search for an opponent for his next bout, which is scheduled to take place at London's O2 Arena on May 21.
