Kell Brook: 'Amir Khan thinks I'm a nobody'

British welterweight Kell Brook believes that Amir Khan still doesn't respect his achievements, despite successfully defending his IBF title last weekend.

Kell Brook believes that rival Amir Khan still lacks respect for him after the door was closed on a bout between the two for 2015.

After successfully defending his IBF welterweight title against Jo Jo Dan on Saturday, Brook had hoped to secure a showdown with Khan at Wembley Stadium in the summer.

However, despite revealing that he wants to face Brook within the next 12 months, Khan has instead opted to fight American Chris Algieri on May 30 as he continues to try to build his profile in the United States.

Khan's decision to face Algieri has drawn plenty of criticism, including from Brook, who believes that it was a "no-brainer" for Khan to agree to a lucrative contest on June 13.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport: "Khan has no respect for me and looks down his nose at me, but I've done everything asked of me. I'm an unbeaten world champion and deserve and command respect, but he talks to me like I'm nothing."

"If someone said to me you can get five million quid, a world title, fight at Wembley in a fight that every fan wants to see, it's a no-brainer for me."

Brook could return to action at the O2 Arena on May 30, before potentially facing Brandon Rios later in the summer.
