Blackwell confirms retirement from boxing

Nick Blackwell has confirmed that he has retired from boxing after spending one week in an induced coma with a serious head injury.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital with a bleed on his skull after his British middleweight title fight with Chris Eubank Jr was stopped in the seventh round at Wembley Arena in London on March 26.

While answering tweets, Blackwell confirmed that he will not step back in the ring. He said: "no that's me done I can't put my friends and family and self through that again but I'll still be involved."

The fighter also told Eubank Jr that he holds "no hard feelings" following their bout.
