Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams has revealed that the son of Mayor of London Boris Johnson has taken up boxing because of her.
Adams became the first woman from Great Britain to win gold medal in boxing at the Olympics when she defeated Ren Cancan in the final at the London Games.
Speaking on ITV1's This Morning, the 29-year-old said that her achievements has inspired youngsters in Britain to take up boxing as a sport.
"My mum was shocked that I've come this far and she was happy that I found something that I enjoyed doing and had a passion about and it was keeping me fit and healthy as well," she said.
"And I have had so many positive responses on Twitter about how I've inspired them to take up sport - even Boris Johnson's son, he says to me that his son has taken up boxing and that's great, we want more people getting involved in sport and taking over when we retire."
Adams was born and raised in Leeds.
