Swiss duo win beach volleyball gold in Baku after victory over Austria

Switzerland have beaten Austria to claim gold in the women's beach volleyball final at the European Games this evening.

The Swiss duo of Nicole Eiholzer and Nina Betschart won 21-16 14-21 15-13 against Lena Maria Plesiutschnig and Katharina Schutzenhofer at the Beach Arena in Baku.

Betschart and Eiholzer denied the Austrian pair from picking up their country's first gold medal of the Games.

Earlier in the day, Lithuania's Monika Povilaityte and Ieva Dumbauskaite picked up bronze after defeating Italy 2-0.
