Kirilenko leads Russia to victory over Team GB

A match-winning performance from Andrei Kirilenko has helped Russia to a 95-75 victory over Team GB in Group B.

Great Britain started the match poorly and Russia took advantage of this by moving into a 24-19 lead after the first quarter.

Both teams produced some enthralling basketball in the second quarter, with Russia just edging the period in the scoring stakes to enjoy a 15-point cushion at the half-time interval.

Chicago Bulls' Deng was at the forefront of most of the British play after the break and a third-quarter win gave the home crowd some hope heading into the final period.

However Deng's total of 26 points alongside Pops Mensah-Bonsu's personal score of 22 was not enough to triumph in London as NBA star Kirilenko finished as the game's highest scorer with 35 points for the Russians.
